The members of the “Radu Bratu” Radio Club carried out a new testing session in the 5.7 GHz band, with the objective of establishing a radio link between two locations with direct line of sight.
The equipment used was built by our colleague YO4FNG – Liviu, demonstrating his high level of technical expertise and the spirit of experimentation that defines him.
The radio link was established near Valu lui Traian, between grid locators KN44FD55 and KN44FE72, separated by a distance of approximately 3.41 km. The terrain profile analysis confirmed the existence of direct visibility between the two points, an essential condition for communications in the 5.7 GHz band and for achieving a stable link.
The video material captures the main moments of the experiment, and at the end presents the locations, grid locators, and profile of the radio path used.
Many thanks to all participants for their involvement, and congratulations to YO4FNG – Liviu for building the equipment and for promoting technical and experimental amateur radio!
The next step will be to find a location that allows a much greater distance between stations, at least 10 km.
